In the year 2022, Algerian nationals experienced the highest number of Schengen visa rejections, with a staggering 179,409 applications being denied. This accounted for a significant rejection rate of 45.8 percent, according to recently released data from Schengen Statistics.
Following closely behind were applicants from India and Türkiye, who had 121,188 and 120,876 visa rejections, respectively. The overall rejection rate for these two countries stood at 18 percent and 15.2 percent, respectively.
Morocco and Russia found themselves among the top ten countries with the highest Schengen visa rejection rates in 2022. Morocco had a total of 119,346 visa applications rejected, with a rejection rate of 15.5 percent. Russia, on the other hand, faced 68,753 visa rejections, resulting in a rejection rate of 28.2 percent.
Tunisia, an African nation, also experienced a high rate of visa rejections. With a rejection rate of 29.1 percent, a total of 48,909 visa applications from Tunisia were denied. The United Arab Emirates followed closely with 42,105 visa rejections.
Rounding off the list were Nigeria, Iran, and Egypt, where approximately 30,000 applications were denied. Nigeria saw the highest number of visa rejections among these three countries, with 39,189 applications being rejected. Iran followed closely with 33,679 rejections, while Egypt faced 31,271 visa denials.
